Let's Start a Revolution.

If we want things to change then we have to do something to make things different. We can't just sit around saying that we wish things would change and expect a change to happen. We have to get up and do what we believe is the right thing, all the time. Especially when the people you are with don't agree with you. It is easy to state your opinion when everyone around you agrees, but when they don't, that's the true test of how much you actually are willing to fight for the cause you support.

Today Proposition 8 was overturned, which has caused an uproar of happiness from all my friends and of course myself. This gives me so much hope for America. Finally we are allowing people to love one another legally, even if it isn't what we were taught is the stereotypical 'love', it is still love. Everyone should be allowed to legally express their love for one another.

Also, along with loving everyone around you, you must learn how to love yourself. Everyone has value and the ability to change the world as we know it however they would wish. The world is like your own slab of wet clay waiting to be formed. Every person touches this clay, whether they realize it, or not. But, it's up to them to decide how they wish to shape their corner of the world. Choose wisely. The larger of a piece you grab the more you will change. I vote to take the biggest piece my hands can hold.

Speckles of Beauty

Some of the things that we define as our personal flaws are the same things that other people look at and think of as our best features. One of my favorite things in the world is freckles. They are simple little speckles of beauty. I always complain that my hair is too frizzy and curly and that I'm too pale, but why? When it's an individual trait that makes me, me. Look in the mirror and point out something unique and beautiful about yourself. You owe it to yourself.

Hello.

Me, photographed by my friend Maddie.
So here I am sitting in my bed typing away as Friends is playing on my TV, I'm having a late night snack of chocolate cake and my dog is keeping my toes warm with her tummy. And then my dear friend Maddie suggests that I start a blog. So, I decide to just go for it and have fun. She created this entire lovely canvas that is handed over to me to do whatever I wish with.
To introduce myself I'm Courtney and I have hopes and dreams of going into fashion, my inspiration for which is Edie
Sedgwick, Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn. All of these lovely ladies inspire me with their strong individuality and confidence.
My definition of a fun day would be sitting in bed sketching Joseph Gordon-Levitt and reading fashion magazines. I am 16 years old and am going to be a junior in high school this coming fall. I keep journals that I write in when I'm happy and lovey
dovey and then later proceed to tearing them to shreds when something goes wrong.
I wouldn't consider myself to be an athlete, but I am a varsity swimmer at my school, so other people do refer to me as one.
I just think of myself as a typical high school girl learning what life means and living it in her own way. Goodnight all.
