Edith Minturn Sedgwick.

"It's not that I'm rebelling. It's that I'm just trying to find another way."
-Edie Sedgwick

Edie Sedgwick. If I could pick one person in this world that I would like to be most like, I would choose Edie. Hands down. Yes, I love Twiggy, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn as well, but Edie is the girl that I find myself drawn to the most. She is a beautiful disaster. I wouldn't wish her misery on my greatest enemy, she spent her life struggling with psychological issues, because of her brothers suicide, that led to eating disorders, and drug abuse. But, her beauty, outstanding personality and style has been iconic ever since she was Girl of the Year in 1960's.

"While I was girl of the year and superstar and all that crap, everything I did was really...motivated by psychological disturbance. But I’d, I’d make a mask out of my face because I didn’t realize I was quite beautiful...I had to wear heavy black eyelashes like bat wings and dark lines under my eyes. Cut all my hair off, my long dark hair, cut it off and strip it silver and blond. All these little manoeuvres I did out of things that were happening in my life that upset me. I’d freak out in a very physical way, and...it was all taken in a fashion trend."

"You have to put up with the risk of being misunderstood if you are going to try to communicate. You have to put up with people projecting their own ideas, attitudes, misunderstanding you. But it's worth being a public fool if that's all you can be in order to communicate yourself."

"Edith Minturn Sedgwick: beautiful artist and actress and all around loon. Remembered for setting the world on fire and escaping the clutches of her terrifying family. Made friends with eeeeverybody, and anybody...creating chaos and uproar wherever she went. Divorced as many times as she married, she leaves only good wishes behind."

Inside an Untrustworthy Snow Globe.

I think that fashion is a form of self expression. I think that mascara is meant to run down your cheeks. I think that music is an escape from reality. I think that when it's raining the sky is crying for all the Earth.

I think that women are just as strong as men. I think that you should dream a little bigger. I think that reality is a center for those lacking imagination. I think that perfection is impossible because it's repulsive.

I think that you are beautiful. Yes, you. I think that there is nothing wrong with being gay, you go Glen Coco. I think that everyone deserves to smile. I think that thrift stores are better.

I think that skipping should replace running. I think that we all think too much. I think that rules are made for people who can't think outside the box. I think that everyone should dance in the rain.

I think that photography is art. I think that I might get bangs. I think that stereotypes are cruel. I think that I may just love you.

Mary-Kate.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen had their own movies that I would watch nonstop. I specifically remember Billboard Dad, and a video game of theirs called Sweet Sixteen. Remember when Wal-Mart had hair crimpers with their picture on them? Well I HAD to have one because they did. Basically, these women had become a part of my childhood, and for a while that's all that they were to me. They were past tense.

Then, a few years back, I heard about Mary-Kate's eating disorder, chain smoking, & all around party life and I was very interested. The girls we once looked at as an example of good, clean fun had stories behind their lives that other people had never heard before. I am not looking down on this at all, but I am respecting both of them more and more after hearing these stories.

I have always been more drawn to Mary-Kate. She is edgier, I adore her fashion, and I believe that she has so much hidden beneath the surface. So, I have decided to share my love for Mary-Kate with you all tonight. She has always been such an inspiration to me, and I hope she is to you as well.

Xoxo.

Carols.

Break is almost here. Only 7 tests away from a much needed time of relaxation. And I decided to make some goals of things to accomplish over break.
1. Read. Complete all of the books I checked out for school research, as well as personal books I have not yet had time for.
2. Re-watch every Christmas episode of Friends, every Star Wars episode, and every Harry Potter movie.
3. Buy tons of fuzzy sweaters. TONS. I plan on thrifting a lot over break and I need to be sure to stock up on sweaters for layering. No one likes being cold.
4. Become a Gold Member at Starbucks. I have 13 out of the 30 points needed, so I would have to be drinking a lot of coffee, but I feel like it's worth it.
5. Paint more. I rarely paint, and next semester in school I start my painting class. So, I figured it never hurts to get a head start.
6. Bake cookies. It's a tradition, need I say more.
7. Clean out my room. It's becoming a disaster in here and I really need to work on getting that under control one of these days..but I sort of like it like this.
8. Solve the Rubix Cube. I've tried before and failed, but I really would be able to say that I can complete it.
9. Make Christmas themed music videos with my friends.
10. Be happy and carefree. Tis the season to be jolly, after all.

Something about black and white photographs is so beautiful. It's classic. And lovely.

Halloween: Take One.

I'm being Edie Sedgwick for Halloween this year and I have 2 parties that I am attending, so I am going to wear different Edie-esque outfits, hair and makeup to each one. My first party happened last night and this is how I turned out. Big earrings, stripped black & white dress, black opaque tights and a big faux fur coat to arrive in. It was tons of fun.
What is everyone else doing/being for Halloween this year?

In The Grand Scheme of Things, I Do Matter.

We were all once so tiny and knew absolutely nothing about anything. We had no brains, no eyes, no nothing. And now here we are. Some of us taller, some nicer, some smarter. How and when did this change happen? We became an individual with our own character traits. Our own brains to create our own vision of the world. We can interpret anything however we'd like and make things happen. We can end other peoples live and we can end our own. We can create new lives. It's crazy how much power can come out of someone, who was once something, who was once nothing.

Where Earth, the sun, the stars, the planet, everything is now, was once pure space. Now look at what we've become. Just look.
